29.02.2020 INTIMATE MEETING OF THE ECO-VILLAGE PROJECT

First of all, I wish you a wonderful start to February, the decade and year 2020 of dream manifestations.

We have started the year with great clarity by reviewing visions, dreams and… all the lands we have researched this last decade for the Eco Village project in Axarquia with the Gaia School and Socio-cultural and Healing Center as the focus! And, well, I would like to share with you that this last year has opened up a couple of very interesting new possibilities…

The project of Escuelita GAIA has been taken up again after Christmas in our space in Almayate and we are at full capacity, growing as an Eco-community of Learning.

We are also looking for a bigger space for the next school year so that we can include more families in the project!

We have several real proposals to start the “big” project very soon, if everything keeps flowing. Some proposals are smaller, and others are bigger that could include more people and dreams.

We would like to invite you on Saturday, February 29th from 10:30h – until 18:00h in our space in Almayate to an intimate day to tell you how we are and how we would like to collaborate and support each other to fulfill dreams.

We feel ready to take the step and buy/rent with option to buy – depending on the case – and, above all, to commit ourselves.
It will depend on how many of you are prepared to manifest your dream this year or next year with us, who will choose one or the other. The strength, human and economic resources that are generated with a small group is not the same as with a large one.

Defies the rain of the last Saturday, we spent a lovely day with the families around the fireplace in the little wooden houses of the school.

Our Gaia educational project began to take shape more than a year and a half ago when we started with the family meetings.

It has been a very very long pregnancy, with several attempts to give birth that didn’t finish blooming; apparently GAIA was premature, that’s why the space we wanted to buy, Nidolea, didn’t come out.
…Now, after several months of hard work and adaptations to the unforeseen events that occurred in August with the other space 1 month before we moved in, our baby GAIA is now mature and has decided to be born in our home in Almayate. Luckily, the mango farm where we live has more than 2 hectares , already had several small wooden houses, etc.. ideal for a small educational project ;

Thanks to the families that continue to believe in GAIA and make the effort to also start contributing economically so that the project takes shape and try to be sustainable economically also!

We are happy to start small and very very grateful for all the contributions and learning we have experienced so far in this TRIP?

IMPRESSIONS OF THE CHRISTMAS MARKET 2019

Dear families,

First of all I wish you a wonderful beginning of the decade and year 2020 full of dream manifestations.
Here we share with you some impressions of the beautiful day of the 29th of December at the organic market we organized in Sayalonga.
In spite of the cold weather, hundreds of visitors from many parts of Malaga and Granada came to share with us this day full of free activities for the whole family and full of surprises for the little ones.

Thanks to the Diputación de Málaga and the Sayalonga Town Hall for their commitment to these initiatives to promote agro-ecology and sustainability by supporting local producers.
Special thanks to all the collaborators and visitors for their participation.

We will inform you soon about the next events we are planning for this year 2020.

Pilot project of the School for the sustainable development of the planet around an eco-village in south Spain.

First of all, we are sorry to inform you that the start of this 2nd course of the GAIA Eco-Learning Community will be delayed until November 4th due to unforeseen events and problems arising from real estate speculation on the Costa del Sol.

The space where we were going to move in mid-September 10 families and 2 companions to grow up in ecovillage, was sold a little more than 1 month ago behind our backs without respecting the rental agreement with option to buy 4 years agreed with the owner.

Imagine what moment we are in: total restructuring, lawyers, search for an optimal place to live several families around the school, and so on.

The good news is, that the GAIA school in Estonia has offered us to start with the GAIA homeschooling program approved in their country NOW -for children between the ages of 6 and 16- while we formalize the creation of a GAIA approved center in Spain, so this month we are with the enrollment understanding which are the needs of families to finalize the educational proposal. We appreciate that those interested contact us as soon as possible to plan together the proposal for mornings, extracurricular activities and family excursions.

GAIA ECO-SPACES
While clarifying the ideal space to create a GAIA approved school/centre in Malaga and the eco-village around it, we have decided to make use of different ECO-SPACES where we collaborate as an association. An "Eco-space" is a space, it could be a centre, a farm or a project, where we find examples of Permaculture (ecological orchards, food forests, water retention, etc) and/or good practices related to social, economic-energy or environmental sustainability.

For the age group of 2 to 6 years we have the space of our child companion Tania, LA MANADA, in the Montes de Màlaga, and our farm in Almayate Alto. In addition we have the Vilago Hopi with 4 domes, theater and orchard near Velez-Malaga. You can see it in the photos. Other private properties are offered for activities.

For the group from 6 to 16 years old, besides Vilago Hopi of Velez and our space in Almayate, we have many proposals of spaces and private properties that open the doors to us to celebrate school days from Coin to Almuñecar. So, the idea is to start this 2nd year as "itinerant school" and continue with the methodological educational proposal GAIA- forest-school; counting on our 9-seater van and other vehicles of collaborators for the displacements.

We believe that in this way, our children will receive a very enriching education immersing themselves in different contexts of Permaculture, agroecology and healthy life.

The annual fee is 50 euros. As a sympathetic member you have the right to participate in the extracurricular activities, excursions and weekend activities that we organize and the whole family will be covered by civil liability insurance.

In addition, you can offer/participate in workshops we organize and receive membership discount; you can make inquiries and receive legal advice and support through the free education association ALE https://www.educacionlibre.org of which we are members; and a lot more advantages...

The monthly fee for families interested in participating in the proposed activities for mornings, afternoons and weekends in our eco-educational spaces and being an active part of the Gaia Learning Eco-community will depend on the number of days you are interested in participating.

ATTENTION: Those who decide for this option will not have to pay the annual sympathetic membership fee of 50 euros, it is already included!

200 € ( 3 days/week )
150 € (2 days/week, minimum participation for children under 6 years! and 1 or 2 days a week for children between 6 and 16 years!)

Autumn Organic Market 29/09/19

Welcome next Sunday 29th of September to taste in SAYALONGA ecological and handcrafted products from Axarquia and the whole province of Malaga.

This beginning of Autumn, Sayalonga will host its second organic market in the square Rafael Alcoba from 10:00 to 15:00h. Visitors who come to know this beautiful enclave of Axarquia can taste vegetarian and vegan food, fruits and vegetables of the region, teas and infusions, and take samples of seeds and medicinal plants, and crafts and much more.

Our association Semilla Monte Alegre, in charge of the organization of this wonderful initiative, has already started with the preparations.
In its second edition, this municipal initiative to promote organic consumption and raise awareness of organic producers in the region, will have live music as last time. Javi Claro and Mario Castillo de Ravsuri will delight us with their fusion music of the world from 12:00h in the morning with instruments such as the Persian Santu, the bansuri, the Galician bagpipe, the Duduk, panderos etc..

AN EVENT FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY!

At 12:00h the workshops for children and the whole family will begin. The association ECOLUCIONA will offer a workshop “Nendo Dango”, seed pumps, from 12:00h to 13:00h. And then, from 13:15 to 14:15h Alonsi from PLANTAROMED will offer another workshop for children: “Come and draw your peasant seed”.

The next edition will take place on 29 December and will be a special Christmas event with many surprises that will last all day. Interested in participating in these events or receive more information call 659 10 98 09

Daniel Stocker es un músico suizo -contrabajista de jazz- afincado en Málaga que trabaja desde hace más de cinco años en diferentes fincas de Permacultura de la Axarquía. Su proyecto principal es Monte Alegre, donde ha diseñado el paisaje de retención de agua en una finca donde el río seco que la atraviesa creaba mucha erosión, y coordina los trabajos de permacultura aplicando su experiencia acumulada. El proyecto del bosque comestible de Monte Alegre cuenta con 4 años de antigüedad y más de 500 árboles plantados y regados solo con el agua que se recoge de la lluvia a través de estas técnicas!

Además, coordina varios proyectos de Permacultura por la zona y asesora a cada vez más personas, asociaciones y empresas interesadas en gestionar los recursos naturales de manera sostenible.

Su enfoque principal es la regeneración del suelo, incluyendo la reproducción de microorganismos autóctonos; el paisajismo de retención de agua -estudios que ha hecho en el biotopo de sanación de Tamera (Portugal)-; y, la reforestación, especializado en la creación de bosques de alimentos en zonas áridas.
