It has been 15 months of great effort and full dedication since we made the call to find the guardians of the IKI-GAIA vision that has been 8 years in the making from our Association Semilla Monte Alegre.
To consolidate a group of pioneers with economic and emotional stability ready to take the step and continue with our monthly meetings and great common dream in the middel of this systemic crisis we are going through, has been an adventure full of learnings !

Like everything in these moments, it can be overwhelming, but we feel that we have enough RESOURCES, CONFIDENCE, and enough economy gathered NOW!!! and above all, with a wonderful and sincronized IKI-GAIA SEED GROUP!!! We would like to use this internal communication to let you know that we are working on the launch of the first open crowdfunding to cover the minimum investments that the project needs in this Phase I to take off with force, and that we have calculated in 300,000 €: reforms of some infrastructures of the farmhouse that allow us to have larger communal rooms for the educational project and the Music Academy, tanks to store the water of the fountain, implementation of the food forest, earthworks to prepare the space where we will install the first caravans, etc.

From the IKI-GAIA motor group we feel that we can reach at least 225.000€ of the 300.000€ we need with your help. On the one hand, we would like that this first economic impulse that we need arrives blessed from this closest circle, with money coming from your hands. And on the other hand, we are aware that launching crowdfunding campaigns of more than 75.000€ are very difficult and there is a risk of having to return everything if it is not reached.

PERMACULTURE ACADEMY

This situation and the unleashed systemic crisis has reconfirmed that we were on the right path! TRAINING AND EVENTS

Are you passionate about organizing events, courses, offering face-to-face and/or online training? From September we start again with webinars, face-to-face meetings, and we want to launch an online platform to give impetus and share all our knowledge, gifts and talents, inspire each other and continue learning.

From the platform promoted by our association GAIA-VESAD "for a healthy and dignified life and education" we want to promote the new educational paradigm that is making its way. Through a holistic educational platform of the new humanity, we want to cover the learning needs of all generations, and offer tools to educators and parents who educate at home or in small educational projects with fewer resources.

Graphic designers, computer scientists, programmers, communicators, and all kinds of support in advertising and network management, marketing, logistics, cooking, animation, etc. are welcome.

BIOCONSTRUCTION BIOCLIMATIC CAMPING

Although the farm has already renovated infrastructure to start with some projects from minute 0 (school, bakery, tourist accommodation, etc., we have many square meters built to be renovated and a unique bioclimatic camping project very ambitious that encompasses the entire surface of the land and where we are working on the holistic design.

For this, we need to expand the multidisciplinary team of collaborators (permaculturists, biobuilders, engineers, architects, site managers, etc.) who would like to try and project themselves in our ecovillage and/or contribute in this design and planning phase, learn and develop professionally in this area that will generate many jobs as soon as the implementation phase begins.

How to start the process

We are aware that the regain of our SOVEREIGNTY in the fields of HEALTH, EDUCATION, FOOD, and ENERGY are the basis of any successful process of deep transformation of society, as well as the central role played by individualized and respectful Education in the formation of FREE BEINGS with a critical spirit. We want to BE GOOD REFERENCES AND SOURCES OF INSPIRATION to facilitate from the EXAMPLE the replication of the New Paradigm in all areas of life.

Driven by the implementation of the educational project for children of compulsory school age that next year 2021/22 would start its 4th year of life and an interdisciplinary Academy of PermaCulture - Semilla Monte Alegre - and for all generations that nourishes it with practice, wisdom and coherence, our Center of Inspira-San-Acción offers us the ideal framework to develop all other projects that feed back into the school: Farm School and Holistic Livestock, Science, Arts and Technology Laboratories, Arts and Crafts Schools, Socio-cultural Center, etc. Projects aligned with Iki-Gaia's vision that promote the development of SOVEREIGN beings capable of discerning, facing the challenges of society and the planet and materializing their individual and collective dreams.

This project is born from the recognition that Education has the central role in the formation of VALUES and in social action, as well as from the total commitment with the TRANSFORMATION of the educational process to promote a NEW PARADIGM that favors the replication of sustainable and equitable societies.

Our motor and integral life project, which is already in its third year (and already has a homeschooling program approved in Estonia while the approval process is underway in Spain), allows the reunion of families with similar values who want to be participants in the co-creation of a different holistic school where the cooperation of the entire educational community - students, companions and family members - among themselves and with their environment, is essential for the proper development of the school.

Acting locally and thinking globally, we encourage the participation and collaboration of people from different generations, disciplines and cultures, aware that the future of the planet will depend on us offering them, NOW and despite the context of integral crisis that we are suffering, the best conditions for their psycho-social, physical and emotional development.

Due to the great acceptance and demand that exists between tourists, foreign resident families, and Spanish families that want to complement the education of their children with a more outdoor educational proposal that emphasizes on environmental education and values, we have decided to open a more public area, a bioclimatic campsite, and offer attractive options for the whole family designed to bring children closer to nature and develop their commitment to the environment. With a large natural swimming pool, a farm-school where the children can feed the animals, a large garden area with native trees and fruit trees to learn about the local ecosystem and the arts of farming, a biotope where they can discover how the amphibians of the region live, etc. being at Iki-Gaia will be an unforgettable experience.

Through Iki-Gaia Slow rural tourism, you will also be able to approach this holistic project as a collaborator and try out a more conscious and coherent lifestyle, complementing, at the same time, the holistic education of your children in an environment of Nature, respect and sustainability that values our heritage, customs and traditions in a very enjoyable and original way.

We will also organize tours along the hiking trails so that you can discover the vegetation and fauna native to the area; climbing days; visits to the mini Iki-gaia Adventure Park and other spots of tourist interest in the area.

And to complement the proposal of the campsite: concerts, workshops and talks of all kinds about the environment, recognition of edible wild plants, healthy family cooking, arts and crafts, etc. and of course, circus shows to make your stay in our campsite an unforgettable experience!

Located in one of the most beautiful places in Axarquia, the Iki-gaia campsite will offer different types of accommodation so that you can choose the one that best suits your needs: spacious bungalows, stone, wood or earthbag houses, plots to erect your own tent or yurt or park your vehicle or caravan, caravans to accommodate a whole family, as well as shelters built of wood and comfortable cotton tents with enough space for four people. All powered by wind energy and heating systems for the winter based on olive pits.

Pioneers, collaborators and long and short term visitors, as well as organized groups from all over the world will be able to rent even campsite cores to do their own training or activities and participate in those offered by Iki-Gaia in a magical, unique and inspiring environment.

The designs of our houses are conceived, paying special attention to the materials that we find in the area and the use of energy, prioritizing the passive systems to reduce the energy demand (good orientation, heavy elements with high thermal inertia, sizing of windows, compact designs, grouping of installations, etc).

With unbeatable acoustic, thermal and air quality comfort, the passive houses that we are planning in the campsite act in a similar way to an insulated thermos, since it maintains its content at a correct temperature, without the need for active heating or cooling, as happens with a coffee machine. Its ventilation system imperceptibly supplies the necessary fresh air, avoiding the formation of humidity and the generation of mould.

Permaculture Slow Tours

For the whole family

A day at a very inspiring permaculture farm full of unforgettable surprises for big, small and medium. Depending on the group (more beginners, professionals of the sector, with majority of adolescents or children) more or less demonstrative practices will be made, and, the theoretical explanatory part, will be more or less technical.

This route of "slow tourism" with small groups and in a rural environment of the Axarquia of Malaga, is designed to generate the minimum impact between the community of people who inhabit it, and the Nature around which they are hosted. Through the explanation and vision of different regenerative practices -compost, edible forests, etc.-, techniques of water retention in the landscape -Swales- and recycling of grey water, the visitor will develop the 7th sense, -the capacity to recognize which practices and actions are in our hands and contribute to a better world; besides receiving a holistic formation in the world of Permaculture and sustainability.

After a brief introduction about the educational day and the place that hosts it, the guide, a renowned Swiss permacultor and musician based in the Axarquia, will offer several tours/sessions that will introduce the visitor to the world of Permaculture and holistic design through the viewing of the different areas of Permaculture, water retention techniques in landscapes; creation of compost, etc.

The highlight of the day will undoubtedly be to share the impressions/reflections of the inspiring experience by tasting a vegetarian-vegan lunch with seasonal organic produce grown largely on the farm.

We offer a wide variety of excursions through our Eco-Gaia Learning Community, as well as courses and seminars on agro-ecology, water retention in landscapes, vegan and healthy cooking, etc.

Cursos

After a dynamic welcome and introduction of the Permaculture day in the upper part of the farm, - enjoying the wonderful views of the Sierra de Tejeda and Almijara and the sea - we will go down to the kitchen area to get to know the history and the owners of the place.

We will start the immersion tour by recognizing the different "Permaculture zones" as a game; as well as some "Water Retention" techniques that help the aquifer to regenerate, while avoiding erosion.

Afterwards, we will taste some products from the farm while enjoying a drink. Depending on the season, we will try roasted acorns, fig bread, smoothies with Aloe Vera and Moringa, products derived from almonds and olives, etc.

We will continue to walk down the paths of the farm to the Yoga centre and discover different techniques for creating compost to regenerate life in the soil. We will pass through magical corners with edible forests where we will try wild and cultivated plants, bushes and fruits that feed the senses and nourish the human being and biodiversity.

In the Yoga Center we will do a small group dynamic to enter the theme of Bioconstruction. We will explain how this Center was built, its wonderful rocket stove, as well as other spaces on the farm with sustainable materials.

The morning's educational day will culminate with a visit to the farm's greenhouse where the visitor will be able to recognize samples of fast-growing, pioneering tree and plant seedlings with minimal water requirements that are ideal for reforestation and nitrogen fixation in the soil. And, depending on the season, we will make a practice of sowing seedlings, pioneer or fruit trees etc.

At 14:00h it is time to share impressions around an original vegan lunch full of km 0 flavours, smells and colours of the season.

To finish, the visitor will receive a small gift along with the educational material of the day and it will be the moment, for those who wish, to acquire home made products from the farm.

GAIA SLOW-TOURS: Friday excursions in a family and rural atmosphere full of unforgettable surprises for big, small and medium sized people. A wonderful opportunity to do slow rural tourism and, at the same time, to complement the education of your children in an environment of Nature, respect and sustainability that puts in value our patrimony, customs and traditions in a very amusing and original way.

This educational route of "slow tourism", with small groups and in a rural environment of the Axarquia of Malaga, is designed to generate the minimum impact between the community of people who inhabit it, and the Nature around them. In addition, all food and gifts offered to visitors are organically produced, vegan and as local and seasonal as possible.

Educational and environmental awareness tour

Our exclusive program of excursions "GAIA-SLOW TOURS" consists of a weekly offer, always on Fridays, where the participants of our educational eco-community GAIA, both the children alone with our accompanists, or including their relatives, can enjoy a different educational day in rural environments - of explosive nature normally -, and where, in addition, the historical-landscape-cultural wealth of the municipality, and, especially, of the region of the Axarquía, is put in value.

Natural Parks, parks and botanical routes, centenary farms and estates, ecological plantations, edible forests, Permaculture projects, museums, beaches of the Maro cliffs, agro-ecology, livestock, mycology and sustainable beekeeping, are some examples of our proposals.

Due to the great acceptance and demand that exists on the part of tourists, foreign resident families, and Spanish families that want to complement the education of their children with a more outdoor educational proposal that puts in value the environmental education and in values, we have decided to open our program of excursions of Fridays also to visitors

Next Friday 14th of January we will visit a singular place of the Axarquia of Malaga in the surroundings of Periana near the mountains of Alhama - 1500 m- and Enmedio -1416 m.

During the visit, we will drink from pure water springs, eat nuts and pick up walnut seedlings, harvest wild plants and fruits and visit charming and historical villages of 1 inhabitant that are in the process of being depopulated.

After an energetic breakfast, we will get to know some very old cortijos and haciendas in the sierra where hundreds of sheep graze in a forest of basophilic oaks, gall oaks, oaks, musks, hawthorns, and bushes such as kermes oak and piornal.

Between the Sierra de Alhama and the Sierra de Gallo-Vilo we will go up winding on the road that goes up to Alfarnate to visit one of the most attractive places of its territory: the Puerto del Sol.

To end the day, we will have a picnic lunch at around 13:300h near the highest point and take an unforgettable walk around the sunny terraces near Puerto del Sol where hundreds of mountain goats, wild boars, rabbits, hares, foxes, etc. come down to drink from a natural spring every day. Spectacular sunny viewpoint protected from the north face by the mountains, from where you can see all of Axarquia and its spectacular Sierra de Tejeda and Almijara, Africa and the beyond...

On the way back, descending from the Sierra, we will visit one of the few remaining spas with sulphurous waters in the peninsula. These famous Baños de Vilo, came to be considered in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries as one of the most important in Andalusia due to the important medicinal properties of its waters.

From the hamlet of Vilo to that of La Muela, we will pass through the nucleus of Guaro where the gentle slopes are covered with olive trees, pastures and cereals, and, where water is available, we will see varieties of fruit trees (especially peach trees) that are increasing as the orchards approach the banks of the river where orange and lemon trees abound, making this area one of the most productive.
